Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Squamous Cell Carcinoma is a very common type of skin cancer. It is known as SCC or lip cancer, develops as a result of overexposure to UV rays, and is most common in fair-skinned people (check your skin type). This skin cancer develops slowly over months or even years but when detected early it is treatable.
This skin cancer tumour usually appears as a non-healing ulcer at the junction of the middle third and outer third of the lower lip. If this sore does not heal in a period of three weeks then consult a doctor.
Squamous Cell Carcinoma is not usually a threat to life as secondary spread is uncommon.
