“Age Spots” and “Liver Spots” (known as Solar lentigo) are two similar lentigo-type freckles.
Although these two types of lentigines do develop over longer periods of time, they are not themselves either a sign of age or anything to do with the liver.
Both “Age Spots” and “Liver Spots are not themselves considered dangerous, but due to their cause being attributed to chronic Sun exposure, their existence does thus represent a health danger (Pugliese, 2001).
